Minnesota Vikings 2022 Projections: The RBs

The Horse - Dalvin Cook

Dalvin has been a staple of the Vikings offense for a few years now. Last season his productivity dropped a bit, however the efficiency was still there. My season projections for Dalvin are around 300 total touches,1600 yards from scrimmage, and 14 total TDs. It has been said that Dalvin will have a bigger role in the passing game, so I expect him to surpass his career best 519 receiving yards this season. Being back in the number four is going to rejuvenate Dalvin Cook, and we will see a player closer to his 2020 form, rather than 2021.

The Best Fantasy Handcuff Ever - Alexander Mattison

I call Mattison the best fantasy handcuff ever because it is almost guaranteed that Dalvin Cook will miss a game or two here and there. When he does, Mattison fills in nicely from a fantasy perspective. This season I expect around 400 total scrimmage yards out of Mattison. He will get some run, but I expect the next guy I talk about to have a bigger role as well. If Cook happens to miss some time then Mattison will likely step in as the lead back, and he has shown to be able to put up good numbers when he does.

The Flash - Kene Nwangwu

The young up and comer. Nwangwu can flat out fly. If he gets in open space it's 88 and out the gate ten times out of ten. I expect this coaching staff to use Kene to the best of his ability, so expect a couple big hitters by way of number 26. I expect Nwangwu to finish the season with around 450 scrimmage yards, but with more opportunity, could surpass the 600 yard mark. Also, he will be an All-Pro kick returner.

There you have it, a top five running back stable in the league. Of course headlined by three time pro bowler, all pro Dalvin Cook. His twin and partner in crime Alex Mattison is right behind him ready to fill in if something goes down. And behind them is the most explosive and threatening of them all. Kene Nwangwu has the speed to turn anything into an 80 yard score. All in all, these guys make up one hell of a RB room, and I can't wait to see them in 2022.
