Will Kadarius Toney improve in 2022? | #TogetherBlue

Kadarius Toney’s career with the New York Giants got off to a bad start. In a year with

injuries, a difficult relationship with head coach Joe Judge and some questions about his

maturity, Toney was never able to fully showcase the skillet that made him a first-round pick

in the 2021 draft.

As the 2022 offseason got underway, the situation didn’t seem to be much better between

player and franchise. Toney was even mentioned in trade talks by some analysts, which

seem to be a harsh thing considering he did show some potential when there wasn’t a lot of

drama surrounding him last year.

The Giants drafted Wan’Dale Robinson in the second round of the 2022 draft and it was a

much criticized pick because of how much his skillset was similar to Toney. Both are fast

and elusive guys who can create explosive plays with the ball on their hands. Toney gets the pedigree of being a first-round pick, but the coaching staff that drafted him is no longer with the team.

It’s still too early to give up from someone with so much potential, but it’s also true that

Toney needs to be more mature and handle his business in a better way. The Giants already

tried their luck with a talented-but-immature player with Eli Apple in 2016 and the result was

a complete failure. New York probably don’t want to admit the same mistake and they’ll give

the receiver every opportunity to prove himself, but he also has a lot of responsibility.
