The Denver Broncos kicked off their 2025 season with a 20 to 12 win over the Tennessee Titans, powered by a stingy defense, explosive runs late, and flashes of brilliance from second-year quarterback Bo Nix. For Tennessee, the loss highlighted just how far they still have to go to be competitive.
Bo Nix Shows Confidence, But Needs to Settle Down
Fresh off a promising rookie season, Bo Nix entered Week 1 playing with confidence. At times, that swagger worked against him. Nix threw two interceptions, both on risky passes under pressure, and also fumbled while trying to escape the pocket.
But Nix also showed why the Broncos believe in him. Just before halftime, he fired a laser down the sideline to Courtland Sutton for a touchdown, capitalizing on poor situational management by Tennessee. He finished 25 of 40 for 176 yards with one touchdown, two interceptions, and several throws that showed poise and accuracy when he stayed in rhythm.
It was a mixed performance, one that worked against the Titans but could cost Denver against tougher competition.

Titans Still Look Overmatched
Tennessee’s defense gave the offense every chance to stay in the game, forcing three turnovers and battling hard for three quarters. But the offense simply could not take advantage.
Rookie quarterback Cam Ward flashed some ability, but his receivers failed to make plays on accurate passes, and the Titans repeatedly wasted opportunities. Poor clock management at the end of the first half gifted Denver another possession that turned into a touchdown. The unit finished with little production and offered no signs it could consistently keep up on the scoreboard.
It is only Week 1, but the Titans clearly have a long way to go before they can be considered a true contender.
Broncos Run Game Finishes the Job
While Nix had his ups and downs, Denver’s backfield sealed the win. J.K. Dobbins scored his first touchdown as a Bronco on a dazzling cutback run in the fourth quarter, bouncing off tacklers before sprinting into the end zone. Rookie RJ Harvey added a 50 yard burst on the same drive, showcasing the depth and versatility Denver has at running back.
Those back-to-back plays highlighted how dangerous the Broncos can be when they balance Nix’s arm with a powerful ground game.
By the Numbers
Bo Nix: 25 of 40 passing, 176 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions. Both picks came under pressure.
Six Broncos defenders recorded a sack, tying for the second most in franchise history.
RJ Harvey: 50 yard run in his NFL debut.
J.K. Dobbins: scored his first touchdown with Denver on a highlight-reel cutback run.
The Bottom Line
Denver showed why it is back on track under Sean Payton. The defense swarmed, the run game closed the deal, and Bo Nix made enough plays despite some costly turnovers.
For Tennessee, the defense battled but the offense wasted too many chances. Cam Ward may grow into the role, but right now the Titans look like a team that is not ready to compete with the AFC’s stronger rosters.
