The Cleveland Browns opened joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, but the quarterback group is feeling the effects of training camp.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Dillon Gabriel (hamstring) took part in 11-on-11 drills, a positive step after missing time. Gabriel told reporters the injury is feeling better, a good sign for his push to earn more preseason reps.
Kenny Pickett (hamstring) was also back on the field, though in a more limited role, participating in 7-on-7 drills. The Browns are clearly easing him in to avoid aggravating the injury.

Rookie Shedeur Sanders (oblique) is considered day to day and is unlikely to suit up against the Eagles on Saturday. The injury occurred during Wednesday’s throwing session, and the team held him out of practice as a precaution.
On the defensive side, cornerback Greg Newsome II (shoulder) will remain limited in practice, keeping the Browns’ secondary from being at full strength.
With three quarterbacks nursing injuries and a key cornerback sidelined, Cleveland’s depth will be tested in the short term. The bigger question — will these nagging injuries linger into the regular season?
