Buccaneers vs Saints Preview

The New Orleans Saints are gearing up for a big NFC South matchup this Sunday as they return to the Caesars Superdome to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both teams are currently tied for first place in the division with a 2-1 record.

The Saints are coming off a tough loss to the Green Bay Packers, but are looking to rebound in front of their home crowd. The team's starting quarterback, Derek Carr, left the game with a shoulder injury and it remains to be seen if he will be ready to play this Sunday. If not, Jameis Winston will step in. Regardless of who is under center, they will have the luxury of working with a talented receiving corps featuring Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, and Rashid Shaheed. Running back Alvin Kamara is also set to make his 2023 debut.

On the other side of the field, the Buccaneers have started the season strong with a 2-1 record. Despite losing quarterback Tom Brady in the offseason, they have found success with new addition Baker Mayfield. Their defense, led by head coach Todd Bowles, has been a force to be reckoned with. The linebacking corps of Devin White, Lavonte David, and Shaquil Barrett have all earned All-Pro honors.

This NFC South rivalry has been intense in recent years, with both teams boasting strong defenses. The last three meetings between the Saints and Buccaneers have been low-scoring affairs, with the winning team averaging just 15 points. In fact, the Saints shut out the Buccaneers in a 9-0 victory back in 2021. Fans can expect another physical game this Sunday, with both defenses looking to make a statement.
