The Buffalo Bills are limping into the season, and head coach Sean McDermott’s latest update has fans on high alert. Several key contributors are dealing with injuries that could shape the team’s early outlook.

Wide receiver Gabe Davis is still rehabbing from the torn meniscus he suffered last season. McDermott revealed Davis will likely start the year on the practice squad with an injury designation. This is a tough blow for an offense already searching for answers in the passing game after Stefon Diggs’ departure.
Adding to the uncertainty, wideout Khalil Shakir (ankle) and cornerback Christian Benford (lower leg) will both be limited in practice. Shakir is expected to play a big role in the slot, and Benford has been climbing the depth chart in the secondary, so their availability will be closely monitored.
On the defensive line, rookie DeWayne Carter suffered a torn Achilles last week and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Losing Carter’s presence up front thins out a unit that was expected to rotate heavily this season.
And then there is Tre’Davious White. The star cornerback will not practice, but McDermott has not ruled him out for the season opener. White’s status looms large, as his shutdown ability could make or break Buffalo’s early defensive game plans.
With so many key players banged up, the Bills are already facing adversity before the first snap of the season. The big question now is whether Buffalo’s depth can hold up long enough to survive this storm.
