Cincinnati Bengals RB Chase Brown Poised for Breakout Season in 2025

The Cincinnati Bengals are entering the 2025 season with Chase Brown firmly entrenched as the centerpiece of their backfield. Now in his third NFL season, Brown is in a prime position for a massive workload in a high-octane offense led by Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins.

While rookie Tahj Brooks could see some touches and veteran Samaje Perine returns as a complementary option, there is no doubt Brown is the lead tiger. In his first year as the primary starter last season, Brown rushed for 990 yards and seven touchdowns on 229 carries across 16 games. He also contributed in the passing game, hauling in 54 catches for 360 yards and four scores.

Brown’s role is further amplified by the Bengals’ elite passing attack. With defenses forced to respect Burrow’s arm and a trio of dynamic receivers, Brown frequently finds light boxes, giving him opportunities for big gains. In 2024, 52% of his carries came against a light box, ranking second in the NFL among backs with at least 200 carries.

What This Means for the Bengals

With Chase Brown as the focal point, the Bengals’ offense is poised to be one of the most difficult for defenses to stop. Expect Brown to thrive in both the run and pass game, taking advantage of mismatches and open lanes created by a passing attack that commands constant defensive attention. If he stays healthy and maintains efficiency, Brown has a legitimate chance to earn his first Pro Bowl nod and cement himself as one of the league’s elite dual-threat backs.
