Cleveland Browns A Sign Quarterback

In a surprising move, the Cleveland Browns have signed veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to a one-year deal, signaling an end to his tenure on the practice squad. The deal includes a substantial $4.05 million in incentives based on winning, according to a source familiar with the agreement as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Flacco's contract details reveal that he stands to earn $75,000 for each of the remaining four regular-season games he wins this season. Additionally, if the Browns make it to the postseason, Flacco's incentives include $250,000 for a wild-card win, $500,000 for a divisional round win, $1 million for an AFC Championship Game win, and a whopping $2 million for a Super Bowl win, as per the source.

The Browns, currently holding the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoff picture with an 8-5 record, have turned to Flacco as their starting quarterback in the past two games. His standout performance has already made an impact, as he became just the fifth quarterback in NFL history to throw five touchdown passes in his first two games with a new team, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

Coach Kevin Stefanski has confirmed that Flacco will continue as the team's starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. Flacco is the fourth quarterback to start for Cleveland this year, following Deshaun Watson, PJ Walker, and rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The Browns brought in Flacco in late November after Watson suffered a season-ending shoulder injury.

Flacco's deal is set to expire after this season, making him a free agent once again. Despite his uncertain future, Flacco has expressed his desire to keep playing beyond this season, emphasizing his focus on the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears.

At 38 years old, Flacco's return to the field has been an unexpected twist after not having any offers to play this season until the Browns extended an opportunity to him. The former Super Bowl MVP with the Baltimore Ravens has conveyed his gratitude for the chance to continue his career, stating, "I'm just trying to stay in the moment and be as grateful as possible and keep getting better."

As Joe Flacco embarks on this new chapter with the Cleveland Browns, his veteran presence and proven track record could play a pivotal role in the team's quest for postseason success. With high stakes and lucrative incentives at play, Flacco's impact on the field could shape the Browns' playoff aspirations and provide a compelling narrative as the season unfolds.
