The New Orleans Saints are facing some offensive line turbulence as training camp progresses, though not all injuries are created equal.
Guard Trevor Penning is expected to miss a few weeks with a foot injury, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. The good news is that this isn’t considered a major issue, so Penning should return to action once he’s fully healed.

Unfortunately, the news isn’t as positive for fellow offensive lineman Will Clapp. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that Clapp has been placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a Lisfranc injury. Losing Clapp is a tough blow for the Saints, as the team will need to adjust its depth chart and find ways to maintain stability up front.
While Penning’s absence is temporary, Clapp’s season-ending status underscores the fragility of an offensive line that will be vital to protecting the quarterback and opening lanes for the running game.
