Skyy Moore is ready to turn the page. After a disappointing stint with the Kansas City Chiefs, the wide receiver is embracing a new opportunity with the San Francisco 49ers following last week’s trade.
“Yeah, that’s exactly what it is. It’s a fresh start,” Moore told NBC Sports Bay Area after the Niners’ preseason finale. “New city, new team. I feel like I get to learn again and put the fun back in the game. Not that I lost it, but just another adventure, I’d say. The guys I’ve met so far have accepted me, and the veteran players and coaches have helped make this transition as smooth as possible.”

A second-round pick in 2022, Moore entered the league with plenty of hype but never lived up to expectations in Kansas City. Across three seasons, he totaled just 494 receiving yards and one touchdown. Last year, he suited up for only six games before being sidelined with an injury and finished without a single catch on three targets.
By the time Kansas City flipped him for a late-round pick swap, the writing was already on the wall. Moore was not going to survive final cuts.
Now the 24-year-old heads to a San Francisco team dealing with injuries at receiver, giving him a real chance to crack the rotation. He could also provide value in the return game as the 49ers look to maximize every weapon on the roster.
“I definitely needed a fresh start,” Moore admitted. “In Kansas City, I found myself in my head a lot, and that is never good. Today, it just felt like let it loose and play. I do not know everything yet, so I just have to go out there and ball.”
Moore’s time with the Chiefs did not go as planned, but in San Francisco he gets something every player craves. Another chance.
