Week 5 Preview | Bears vs Commanders



The Chicago Bears are off to a rough start this season, currently sitting at 0-4. In their last game against the Broncos, they fell short with a final score of 31-28. However, rookie quarterback Justin Fields showed promise with 335 passing yards and four touchdowns, earning him a quarterback rating of 132.7. The Bears also had success on the ground with Khalil Herbert leading the team with 103 rushing yards. Despite these individual performances, the Bears have struggled to put points on the board, averaging just 18.8 points per game.



Defensively, the Bears have had their fair share of struggles as well. They have surrendered 1,071 passing yards, ranking them 29th in the league. They have given up an average of 267.8 yards per game through the air and have allowed a completion percentage of 70.1%. On the ground, the Bears have given up an average of 115.5 rushing yards per game and have conceded 462 rushing yards through four games. They have also struggled to prevent their opponents from scoring, giving up an average of 34.3 points per game.




The Washington Commanders, on the other hand, have a record of 2-2 for the season. In their last game against the Eagles, they suffered a 34-31 loss. Quarterback Sam Howell had a solid performance with 290 passing yards and one touchdown. Running back Brian Robinson Jr. led the team with 45 rushing yards. The Commanders have been able to score more points than the Bears, averaging 22.3 points per game. However, their offense has struggled with penalties, giving up 197 penalty yards on 25 violations.


Defensively, the Commanders have allowed six touchdowns through the air and have given up an average of 230.0 passing yards per game. On the ground, they have conceded 490 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns this season. They have also given up 120 total points and have only recorded five takeaways so far this year.



Both teams will have their work cut out for them in their upcoming matchup. The Bears will need to find a way to score more points and improve their defense, while the Commanders will need to clean up their penalties and tighten up their defense as well. It will be interesting to see which team comes out on top in this matchup.
