Jordan Love Injury Scare Rocks Packers as Preseason Setback Piles Up

Green Bay Packers Injury Update

The Green Bay Packers are feeling the sting of the injury bug early in the preseason, and the list of names is enough to make fans nervous.

Quarterback Jordan Love is dealing with a thumb injury that will keep him “very limited” in Thursday’s joint practice with the Seahawks, head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed. While the update doesn’t sound catastrophic, anytime the franchise quarterback is banged up, it’s going to dominate headlines in Green Bay.

On the defensive side, Lukas Van Ness sat out Monday’s practice with a back injury. LaFleur downplayed the concern, but Packers fans know how tricky back issues can be — especially for a young pass rusher expected to take a leap in Year 2.

The team also suffered a bigger blow to depth on the defensive line, as rookie Keith Randolph Jr. has been placed on injured reserve. His absence hurts the rotation up front, and it leaves the Packers relying heavily on their starters as they approach the season.

Perhaps the most serious situation comes from the secondary. Safety Omar Brown remains in an Indianapolis hospital after sustaining a chest/lung injury in Saturday night’s preseason game against the Colts. LaFleur reassured reporters that Brown is doing better, but this is an injury that goes well beyond football.

For now, the Packers will hope Love’s thumb heals quickly and that Van Ness’s back doesn’t linger into the season. But the early injuries are a reminder that Green Bay’s margin for error is razor thin as they gear up for 2025.
