Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is heading into a critical date with the NFL. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Rice will have a disciplinary hearing on Sept. 30 to determine potential punishment for his role in a 2024 high-speed crash that led to two third-degree felony charges.

The hearing comes after the NFL and NFLPA couldn’t agree on a suspension length. That means Judge Sue L. Robinson — the same disciplinary officer who handled the Deshaun Watson case in 2022 — will make the call.
Here’s what we know:
The Incident: On March 30, 2024, Rice was allegedly driving a Lamborghini Urus at 119 mph on a Dallas highway, weaving through traffic before colliding with multiple vehicles. Prosecutors say he didn’t stop to check on the injured and instead fled on foot.
The Fallout: Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail in July for his role in the crash.
The Football Side: His 2024 season lasted just four games before a knee injury ended it in September. He’s been active in Chiefs training camp this summer, but this looming hearing could impact his availability in 2025.
Under the NFL’s personal conduct policy, the league could hand down a significant suspension — one that would immediately shake up Kansas City’s wide receiver depth chart.
The Chiefs are trying to gear up for another Super Bowl run, but depending on Judge Robinson’s decision, they might have to start the year without one of their top young playmakers.
